A Weekend of Firsts

This weekend was a pretty big one for us. Not that we did anything spectacular, but the kids got to experience a couple new things for the first time this weekend. Our Friday was pretty standard operating for us. A morning trip to Target. Because is there a better way to start a weekend? I told the kids we'd go to the park after Target, but it was much colder than the TWC app led me to believe. They insisted we go, so we went and lasted about 5 minutes. Then we headed to the indoor play area to burn off the rest of that energy.

Naps and an afternoon at work followed. We lost an employee at the daycare, so the kids and I are picking up the evening shift again for the time being. After work we hit up Panera for some soup and mac and cheese. There may have also been a blizzard consumed by the three of us before the kids showered and went to bed. Once they were asleep, I took a couple shots of Nyquil and it was off to bed for me too.

Saturday morning we woke up and had a list of errands to run. Actually we only had two places to go, but one of those places didn't have what we needed so it turned into a lot of places and then we hit up a bakery for Pi Day. Because Pie. Yeah. We were late getting down for naps, but we managed to all get in a decent nap and still make it to church with Grandma and Grandpa.

After church we played outside for a little bit and then it was off to the kids first Mad Ants game. It was their first professional semi professional sports game. We've wanted to take them to a Tin Caps game the last two years, but somehow it never happens. It was Star Wars night at the game, and there were a couple Storm Troopers there to meet us at the door. The Storm Troopers were met with Brooke's refusal to walk in the door. Pretty consistent with last time we met them.

For the most part they seemed to enjoy the game. The game didn't start until 7:30 so they were already tired by the time we got there. Harrison had a meltdown over an ice cream cone, but overall a good time was had by all. There was stadium food, ice cream, friends, dancing, and basketball. Brooke and our friend Vey loved watching the student dancers that came out to perform on the court. They tried to imitate their moves, and it was the highlight of my night. We called it a night after the third quarter, and had the kids in bed by 10:30.

We kicked off Sunday morning with some donuts from Rise N Roll bakery. If you live in Fort Wayne and haven't been, go. Like now. Their donuts are sooooo good. I haven't tried one I didn't like. They're all good, and their pies are pretty great too.

We decided on an 11 am showing of Cinderella hoping that it wouldn't be too busy. Thankfully we had an entire row to ourselves, so when the kids got antsy at the end, it wasn't an issue that they wanted to climb on the seats. I feel like overall their first movie experience went really well. I enjoyed the movie, but didn't love it. Cate Blanchett was fabulous, and her costumes were beyond gorgeous. She was by far my favorite part of the movie. I love Ever After, and it was hard not to compare the two. It was definitely worth seeing, but not something I'll be rushing to see again.

Sunday evening we spent a lot of time outside. Chalk, bubble mowers, and a short walk. We are definitely loving the warmer temps. We even opened a couple windows in the house Sunday afternoon. Our friends came over for our usual Sunday night dinner and TWD viewing. We cracked open the new shandy sampler pack and ate avocado burritos while the kids ran around like crazy. They kids were exhausted by bedtime, and we were too. I'm sure all that beer didn't help.

Today the temps are supposed to hit the big 70, so if you need us we'll be outside. I wish the warm weather was here to stay, but it's back to the 40s after this week. So we're going to get every ounce of sunshine and warm air we can out of today. Happy Monday!!
